The business world too is progressing and is now experiencing the fourth industrial revolution popularly termed Industry 4.0. In Industry 4.0, technology is the prime mover. A few technologies driving Industry 4.0 are: Business Analytics, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things, Blockchain and Simulation. 

Like businesses, the leading business schools like ours are encouraged to align with these technological shifts in Industry 4.0 by incorporating in the curricula, courses in the areas of: 

Business Analytics, Machine Learning, Data Sciences, Blockchain, Simulation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Design thinking, Digital Marketing, Hybrid Learning and Globalisation. 

In addition, to drive these cutting-edge technologies, leadership and managerial capabilities such as emotional and social intelligence, people skills and team skills, self-development, wellness & fitness are also enabled through our programmes.

At the Faculty of Management and Commerce (FMC), we believe that education in management and commerce should be agile and designed to adapt to Industry 4.0‑driven trends and shifts. 

The Faculty of Management and Commerce at MSRUAS aims to deliver competency and outcome-based management and commerce education with inter & multi-disciplinary approach adopting global educational practices with emphasis on development of critical, analytical and problem solving abilities in its graduates and associates with a passion for lifelong learning and independent thinking. The Faculty equally emphasizes on creation of new knowledge in management and technology areas through research and publications.

Our team of adequate number of Faculty Members includes academicians from reputed Universities in India and abroad and come with a rich industry experience. The Faculty Members bring latest innovative academic practices to the classroom – offline as well as online — so that students acquire critical knowledge, develop research and analytical skills for effective problem solving and decision-making.

The Faculty Members conduct contemporary research which covers important areas of applications for industry and society, by using appropriate research methodologies. The Faculty Members in the Department regularly publish in world-class academic journals. The Faculty Members also engage in consultancy and sponsored-research projects for industries and other government organisations utilizing their extensive experience. Students are involved in these projects. Few of the successfully completed projects include: Development of Green Innovations Framework for manufacturing industry (sponsored by NSTMIS-DST), Technology Gap Analysis Study for Mysore Printing Cluster, sponsored by TIFAC-DST, Technology Gap Analysis Study for Channapatna Toys Cluster, sponsored by TIFAC-DST, Project of starting a Centre for automated farm machinery for Karnataka Council for Technological Upgradation

The curriculum of all programmes is periodically reviewed by a reputed Board of studies drawn from reputed Institutions like IISc, IIMs, IIT’s and reputed industry organisations. The curriculum is aligned with the changing needs of the business world.

The Departments thus prepares students for Industry 4.0 by enabling students to experience world-class Internship Opportunities, training sessions by industry experts, Leadership Development, Personality Development and overall Skill Enhancement through certification programmes, MOOC courses, Guest Lectures and expert talks, workshops, field visits and project tours.

One of the twenty-one research centers in the University is the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Research Centre (IEDRC). The Faculty Members of FMC who are part of the IEDRC endeavor to develop frameworks for sustainable business ecosystems for the enrichment and nurturing of both innovation and entrepreneurship. Students and Faculty Members of the IEDRC pursue innovation and entrepreneurship for the utilisation of strategic global/​national initiatives from conceptualization to the development of product/​service, formulate and recommend solutions to the existing challenges of business start-ups in adopting the good practices of innovation and entrepreneurial development and develop business models for various entrepreneurial requirements.

The students of the Faculty of Management and Commerce gain rich multi-disciplinary knowledge by closely engaging in cross-functional projects and assignments, working with the students of other Faculties in the University: Social Sciences, Art and Design, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Life and Allied Health Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Hospitality and Pharmacy and Dental Sciences. 

The vast campus of Faculty of Management and Commerce is located in the heart of Bengaluru city, called the Silicon Valley of India, at the Gnanagangothri campus of the University. The city is home to the most well-known multinational and national organisations offering immense opportunities for cutting-edge projects, internships and placements.

The campus of FMC is well-equipped with adequate classrooms with modern teaching aids, seminars halls, library and laboratories with contemporary software and hardware. The learning and teaching resources are designed for offline as well as online teaching.

In-house Journals

The Faculty of Management and Commerce has two in-house journals — SAS TECH Journal and the Journal of Management and Commerce. Both have, over the years, made a name for themselves as credible publications that maintain stringent standards of quality and academic integrity.

The facilities at FMC are designed and equipped to give students the chance to delve deeper into their field of study. They help students develop and hone skills that are necessary to ensure success in their professional lives. From computer labs where students are trained in industry-related software to a library which gives them access to journals and publications from around the world, FMC’s Facilities are yet another avenue through which students can learn and grow.
